Superfacialist by Una Brennan Rose Night Cream

In my quest to expand my drugstore collection, i have steadily been replacing the high end products i have run out of with cheaper alternatives. It always seems to be the way, when i run out of one product, all of the others run out at the same time. Not too long ago my night cream ran out, i was using the Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream which was quite a thick cream but left my skin feeling hydrated. I'm not sure if it was designed to be using during the day or night but i found it was better as a night cream as it didn't dry very quickly so it didn't create a good base for make up. However overnight it had more time to sink in. After this ran out i desperately needed a new night cream and actually ran out for a few days and had to use some skincare samples i had to tide me over. I bought the Superfacialist by Una Brennan Rose Night Cream around a month ago so i have had enough time to test the product and ponder my thoughts on it.

I've never really been fussed about night cream as i use other products which i rely on. My current day cream is from Jo Malone London and as always i am using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair which helps to boost the effects of any moisturiser i use after. This doesn't really make sense as a night cream needs to be good as it has longer to sink in, so it can be thicker than your day cream. As i bought the Superfacialist night cream close to the end of last month, when i didn't really have any money i needed something quite cheap. When i want a recommendation for a product, i always take to the internet and the blogging community. I must admit, i was struggling to find any good reviews of cheaper drugstore night creams but whilst i was looking at Boots i noticed the Superfacialist Rose Night Cream. I read a couple of reviews and thought i would give it a go, if i hated it i could always replace it at the start of this month. At £14.99 it wasn't going to break the bank.

I've heard so much about Superfacialist by Una Brennan and a lot of people say it is a good cheaper brand. I remember Anna from The Anna Edit talking about the cleansing oil back in the day. This night cream is designed to hydrate. Some of the claims made about this cream are:

It 'work[s] while you sleep to rejuvenate, soothe and strengthen skin cells.....Skin is left feeling hydrated from the inside out, soon revealing a replenished, natural glow.' (Read more here

It has hyaluronic acid, rosehip oil, cucumber and willow in it which work to mositurise and soften the skin. I'm going to be honest i'm not sure how much this hydrates and i don't think my skin looks more radiant after using it.

For me this cream is very thin and it feels more like a gel texture rather than a traditional cream, It is very smooth but i don't think it feels overly hydrating. I like a cream that you can feel as you're going to bed but this one feels dry almost the minute after it has been applied. I think this would be amazing for a younger person who is just starting to use skincare, for me this isn't thick enough. Since i have been using this my skin doesn't seem as well hydrated. Some of my dry patched have come back and my skin is not as plump.

Another thing about this cream is the smell. It is a rose cream and the fragrance of rose is super strong. Rose, in general, is a very hit and miss scent, you either love it or you don't. There are so many different takes on a rose scent; my favourite rose scent is the one that Lush does as it is sweet and contains vanilla which soften the floral aspects of the fragrance. The one in this cream has an almost metallic rose scent. It smells very artificial and floral rather than fresh. If you do not like rose there is no way you will like this cream as the smell is SO strong!

Since i bought this it went down to £9.99 for a while so if you do want to try anything from the Superfacialist range, wait for it to be on offer, That is a good thing about buying products from Boots, they usually have some form of discount. Unfortunately i don't really like this for my skin needs. It is a nice cream and the almost gel texture feels lovely on the skin and quite cooling but it doesn't work well at hydrating my skin. I haven't replaced this cream and i will use the whole pot but i will not be buying this cream again.
