A Birthday Present to Myself from Tom Ford

In the final installment of my Birthday week posts i wanted to share with you another item i treated myself to. For me, Tom Ford Beauty is the epitome of luxury make up and whenever i consider treating myself to something i always head to my local counter. The packaging alone feels like a luxury and it is very rare that i buy a Tom Ford product and i'm disappointed. I've had my eye on the Nude Dip Palette for a while and i took my Birthday as the perfect opportunity to treat myself.

Around this time last year i found out Tom Ford were going to discontinue some of their palettes as they were bringing out lots of new ones. I had never really considered buying one before as they are £64 and i just couldn't see any product being worth it but when i found out Cognac Sable was going to be discontinued i rushed to pick one up. Whenever i would browse the palettes Cognac Sable always stood out to me due to the warmth of the shades and how nude they are but any eye look can be smoked out with that bottom right shade.

One thing that did put me off the palettes (as well as the price) were the super glittery foil shades however when i used it for the first time on my lid it wasn't what i expected. It looks like an adult glitter, it isn't too much on the lid but it does accentuate the eye if placed on the centre and blended out. Ever since i have had this palette i have seen what all the fuss is about with Tom Ford shadows they are beautiful but as the palette has been discontinued i am wary about using it too much as i won't be able to get it again.

Nude Dip and Cognac Sable

I had a voucher for Harvey Nichols which is where my local Tom Ford counter is, so i instantly knew what i was going to put it towards after the success of my Cognac Sable palette. With my £30 voucher it took the cost down to £34 which i think is a reasonable amount for a palette. After the new palettes were launched last year i have always had my eye on the Honeymoon Palette and Nude Dip. Whenever i go to a counter they are always sold out of Honeymoon but i decided to settle for Nude Dip.

Nude Dip is a mix of champagne shades with more cool toned browns which isn't something i go for very often but these shades are stunning. They are all very nude and blend together like a dream. They are rather shimmery so personally i think this palette will be kept for nights out as it is a bit much for daytime. The shadows definitely provide a more frosty finish in terms of the amount of shimmer. As you should hope from a £64 palette the shadows are very pigmented and do blend together for an effortless look.

The formula of these shadows are different from my other palette as they can be used wet or dry and the texture is completely different. Nude Dip doesn't feel as soft and creamy when you swatch it but it gives more pigment compared to the standard Tom Ford Palettes. When i swatch Cognac Sable the shadows are a lot softer and slightly less shimmery. I've had a look online but i have been unable to find out the differences between the two formulas which i think is slightly disappointing as i would love to know the differences to be able to share them with you.

The palette does come with a pouch which i like to keep my palette in just so the packaging stays nice but other than that i find them pointless. The brushes that the palette comes with are also bloody useless and do not pick up any of the amazing colour so i wouldn't count on using these. It is slightly disappointing because this palette does cost a lot so you would expect a better brush but oh well who uses the brushes in a palette anyway.

I think this palette originally came out as a limited edition however it was brought back permanently not too long after as everyone loved the shades and the formula. I think this is stunning and i am super pleased to have it in my collection. Hopefully i will get another voucher and be able to complete my Tom Ford palette collection by buying Honeymoon, if it is ever in stock again.

This concludes the end of my Birthday week, i hope you have enjoyed it as much as i have and if you have missed out on any other posts from the week they are all linked below.
